This Film is Not Yet Rated was a huge eye opener for me in terms of the movie making industry. For example, I never thought that the MPAA was supposed to be made up of “average” people to rate films for an “average” public.
To highlight it’s points, the film used a lot of “shock” techniques, like cartoon and real depictions of sex and violence. At some points they were really effective (i.e. the gay vs. heterosexual movie segment), but others it was just a little bit much. It seemed like they were really just trying to escalate people’s passions and emotions about something that most people probably would take the opposing side on.
I will say though that what shocked me the most and would even shock the opposition of the film is the stated fact that no filmmaker can bring up a previously rated film as legal precedent to argue for the lessening of their own rating! There should be a LEGAL investigation into the conduct of this administration.
I feel like they had some very good points that didn’t require the juxtaposition to all the outrageous X-rated stuff. I felt like it was distracting at many turns.
